Man! I am so glad I signed up for NaNoWriMo. You would not believe the amount of housework I’ve gotten done.
Let this be a lesson to you. If you really need to get some things done around the house, yard, or garage, commit yourself to a writing contest, because the first avoidance tactic is to do anything — and I mean anything — other than what you’re supposed to be doing, including things you normally pay someone else to do so you don’t have to.
Why is that? I am a rebel from way back, and I wonder if that’s one reason I refuse to comply with what is expected of me. Or is it that I’m out of practice or that my inner perfectionist is having a hard time allowing myself to write crap? Or that my procrastination gene just found a crack to slip out of?
How about you other Wrimos? How much spring cleaning have you done this weekend? Planning to cook an insanely elaborate meal tonight? Catching up on a month’s worth of laundry? Pulling out the iron you haven’t seen in two years? Cleaning out the catbox? Finally pulling up those two-foot-high weeds in the flower beds? Reorganizing the garage? Or are you being good and writing like you’re supposed to?
All right, I’ve locked myself in my room with my laptop and I’m going to go write now. Right after I move my winter clothes to the front and my summer clothes to the back of my closet.

To be quite honest, I have not done any cleaning today, and I should have!
I guess NaNoWriMo is my excuse for not doing what I ought to do.

Oh yes – when I’m battling with the words, the house gets a complete going over!

That really made me laugh. (Since I’m not a fan of NaNoWriMo)
But, f you truly are signed up for NaNoWriMo… I’ll bite my tongue just for you and offer my best wishes and a bucket full of Good Luck.
Hiss… now I’ve got to go wash my mouth out with battery acid.
Seriously though, Good Luck to you.
