About the Interminable Writer
“Writing is not necessarily something to be ashamed of, but do it in private and wash your hands afterward.” ~ Robert Heinlein
Ol’ Bob encapsulates how it feels sometimes when you’ve been writing for as many years as I have, yet you’re still basically a nobody clacking away on the keyboard in your own private Tomb of the Unknown Writer. I’ve tried to quit the habit but keep getting lured back in by the tantalizing fantasy of spending my days in my own space, spilling my brain matter into the universe and getting paid handsomely to do it. Ah, but for my dreams . . .
In service to my craft and my unrelenting desire to speak through my keyboard and have people actually read the words that spew forth (don’t hesitate to applaud and tip too), this blog is devoted to the glory and the gory of my creative writing life, my interminable affliction.

Hi! Thanks for writing a comment on my blog. I’m curious. How did you come across it?

Hello! Glad you came by. In answer to your question, I just did a search under the “writing” category and your headline caught my eye. Nice work.

Hi, Jayne–
I responded to a comment you made on Marie Ann Bailey’s blog (1writeway), and she and I have gotten into a discussion about what you meant when you said, “I believe (and have been told) that I am as good as any other writer being published today.”
I tried to parse the meaning of that, and failed. Perhaps you could enlarge on it. I’m afraid I may have seriously misunderstood or misinterpreted you — in which case, please accept my apologies!
I do take discussions of this sort of thing seriously. Perhaps too seriously.

This is weird…I keep seeing your blog in my outgoing links…the ones that are tagged at the bottom of my posts as “similar posts” or whatever that is. So, I thought I’d wander over to see what you’re all about. And lo, I see Dean J. Baker and some folks that comment at his site here. I read and comment there everyday.
Small world…this blogging world.
Anyhow, I like your writing. It’s funny and timely! I’m sure I’ll be back to read more!

Hey, KJ,
I enjoy reading your writing as much as I do any other writer being published today

Leaving Evangeline, thanks so much for stopping by. This blogging thing is new to me so I’m never sure where I’ve been or who I’ve left comments with, but I like your site and that’s why I have visited several times.
1writeway, you are so sweet! Thanks for the lovely words. You have no idea how encouraging they are.
Best,
KJ

I love both your blogs … thanks for stopping by mine … you asked how people keep up with it … I will tell you back in the day … before blogs I kept an internet journal … it was a lot of work coding the pages and what not … but it was fun … then once blogs came around started those … there are for sure times where I wrote nothing for months … and then I write way too much each day … the best part of having them … going back and reading old posts … I’ve been doing that a lot lately and it is a kick … I love it … and tonight i found a site that turns blogs into bound books … blurb.com … i’m thinking of doing that with mine … a before kids and after …

Thanks so much for the note. I can see that going back through old posts would be a real hoot. What a great way to commemorate your life. I would think your descendants would think that would be a cool thing to have. Will check out blurb.com.
Thanks again!

KJ, thanks for the nice comment on my blog! It’s not really so bad up here, aside from the men and the cold and the lack of punk music. And even with all that, I’m sure I’ll survive.
Stay well,
Rachel

Hi, Just stopping by having seen your comment on someone’s post where I wrote nearly the same thing to him – about perserverance being as important as talent, etc etc.
Marking you a “fave” to stop by more often and very curious about your writing!

Hey! I really love your blog and have been inspired by what you write more times than I can count! It’s been a while, but I wanted to thank you for coming over to my blog (lost in the in-betweens, that I deleted :/) and giving me advice. We’ve never met but you were completely dead on about the way I approach writing. I strive for perfection in everything I do and panic/freeze up when I don’t think I’m going to be able to reach the bar I set for myself or live up to outside expectations. I think I just needed to get back to the core of why I love writing and you know what? When I “dare to suck” I’m so uninhibited that the words flow onto the screen and I actually ENJOY it. So thank you.

Brittany, I’m so glad to hear you are getting something out of my writing. It means so much, especially to writers, when their words are of value. Now that I’ve finished changing my URL, I’ll be back at this site, blogging much more about the writing life. Hope you visit often and give your feedback.
Thanks,
KJ

KJ,
I just wanted to stop in and say that your advice on writing is a big help to people like me. Daring to suck was probably the the most insightful approach to writing that I have ever heard. I mean, how can we ever become published if there isn’t anything on paper to edit?
Kudos to you and good job on your blog.
Jay
